Hotels, Restaurants, Eating Place In and Around Ghatkopar

Hotels, Restaurants, Eating Place In and Around Ghatkopar

Okay sorry for the long hiatus been sort of busy not much. Anyway moving around the Ghatkopar Station area particularly near the Cama Lane start just opposite the left turn to SNDT college you see lot of farsan stores .

Sweet and Sor: Strangely either the name board मेकर made a mistake with the spelling or like all Gujju men they spelt it all wrong, yours truly have the all so familiar gujju friends who spell poorly.

But the store is a mega foodie joint to buy stuff, right from breads to Kakkara, and mind you i asked them for no salt/oil and they had it, methi, plain, salted, unsalted, variety of them.

Sweet dishes aslo sold here, samosa, dhokla, Pizza base, and all great place to visit and yes they sell this very unique not had any better peanuts like these called (nariyal ka paani ka taste jiasa mungfalli) it tastes very delicious not the regular channa seng walla , this is really tasty try one cost about Rs 30/-.

Then as you move down towards the staion right turn you have first very next to Sweet and Sor, is Agarwals mitahi, selling double roti (now more so called dabeli) when we were kids a single vendor used to sell this near Odeon cinema and one at the Somiaya book depot then called double roti, bun filled with tasty mix of potato mix with pomegranate granules, peanuts, slice pineapple, and all the very mix of masala and some tasty stuff, spread with a hot / sour/sweet chutney and little butter and लो you have hot Dabeli, they sell dhokla ,mostly eaten right at the start of the day as then it is fresh and not so sour and good on the tummy, as the day goes by it gets fermented and so not that tasty, with lot of green fried chilly full pieces, samosa and all. They have during summer packets filled with AAm raas (Mango juice) mind you need to have it diluted with water as at a friends house we had one party where we all consumed straight from the packet and had a real runny next day.

Patel Jucie centre: Paani Puri
So move towards Patel Jucie centre / fast food / snack all in one but segregated by the counter. Fisrt selling juice mostly fruits and cold drinks , fast food selling again dabeli this corner is mostly dabeli area, and aslo some idli and other snacks like sandwiches, but the most famous and the real money maker is the snack bar, here they sell the most tasty and quick to serve on the roll cold Paani Puri for Rs 10/-a plate, man this is good stuff and i mean its quick, these guys have to be seen , the counter is lined across with four people standing to have the paani puri and two of the guys selling, its such a small counter but they are very efficient and lighting fast they serve 5 puri with the cold spiced water and mix , they also have this Dahi batata puri which sells for Rs 14/- this joint is not to be missed when in Ghatkopar .

Then there is the Sandwichwala standing under the tree just outside the Patel Snack counter. he makes a good deal of the veggies and has quite a handful of guys to help him serve the dishes .

And from there on going down right towards the station few stores next of Patel Snack is again the Agarwal this is bigger in terms of space, sitting area and has a counter for bhel puri , paani puri, sev puri, and this also is a good place to have bhel puri ,clean in terms of the guys wearing gloves and all, look much better , then a few stores ahead next to the shoe stores is Chandu Halwai and also there is Punjabi Ghasitaram though not as frequnted.

On the Cama Gully Street is the Bank of Baroda bank and outside on the corner is the dosawalla, the paani puriwalla and vada pav walla all making a good money out of their carts, thoug h personally not sure how good they are hygienecally as it dosent look much clean though.

Across them is the one of the oldest farshanwalla , this outlet has been making and selling farshans, samosa, and other dishes, patra, and all sort of chewda, mixtures, spiced and really tasty , jalebi and the other stuff , the old huge pot beellied guy making the dough for samosa and also the frying of the samosa is a regular sight in the mornings, not so pretty sight though sweaty and all of them specially the pot bellied guy without his shirt on.

There are many more will do a post on them next.
